Returns

This page is for returning something you bought — wrong part, wrong size, changed your mind. If an Acme-built winch or compass has failed, that is a warranty claim and it works differently: see warranty claims.

How long do I have?

30 days from the day it reaches you, or from the day you carried it off the counter. Unopened stock items go back for a full refund inside that window. We extend it to 90 days for anything bought between 1 November and 31 December, because chandlery bought in winter is usually fitted in spring and finding out in March that the part is wrong is not your fault.

What condition does it need to be in?

Resaleable: unfitted, unpainted, with its packaging. Rope and chain cut to your length cannot go back, because nobody else wants your length. Paint and coatings cannot go back once the tin is open. Electronics return unopened only, and that includes the QuickCleat remote sold separately.

Is there a restocking fee?

On special orders, yes — 20%, and we tell you that at the counter before we place the order, not after. Special orders are anything we do not hold in stock and bring in for you; roughly one catalogue item in nine. On ordinary stock items there is no fee at all.

What if you sent the wrong thing?

Then none of the above applies. We pay the freight both ways, there is no fee, there is no time limit, and the correct part goes on the next dispatch run rather than waiting for the wrong one to come back. Tell us by VHF or at the counter and we will start it the same day.

What cannot be returned

How do I get my money back?

Refunds go to the card or account that paid, within five working days of the return reaching Pelican Quay. We do not issue credit notes unless you ask for one. Counter hours and the address are on Contact.
